Social media savvy consumers look at fellow consumers to inform their purchasing decisions. Instead of looking at companies, as they did in the past, they now look at each other and at their favorite personalities.
Fresh research has indicated that some UK brands are willing to stump up as much as £75,000 for a single post on Facebook from a celebrity influencer, with this figure coming in at around £67,000 for the same endorsement on YouTube.
Nearly 40% of Twitter users say they’ve made a purchase as a direct result of a Tweet from an influencer – 49% of Twitter users claim to rely on recommendations from influencers.
88% of consumers say they trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations. Reviews on hotels and restaurants being the most trusted.
72% of consumers will take some action after reading a positive review. After reading a positive review, 57% of consumers visit the business’ website.
